So the story begins with a bang! When it comes to iPhones, what’s the very first name that strikes our mind? The guess is correct! Yes, it’s Apple once again which has hit the market with a very new attractive Gold iPhone with 3G technology and the exciting thing about it is that the Apple’s logo is packed with 53 VVS1 diamonds. The whole body of iPhone is made up of 22 carat solid gold (yes, the jewelry is usually 18 carat for us lesser beings) and the diamond studded logo gives it a very striking look. Four skilled craftsmen including Stuart Huges have worked for months to give it the exclusive look it has come up with. This is the most expensive iPhone in the world till date.

iPhone has always positioned itself among the premium segment customer because of its extraordinary features and no doubt Apple has maintained its customer segment by introducing the 3G ...

Have you seen He’s Just Not That Into You? In it, the character Mary, played by Drew Barrymore, says she has been rejected by no fewer than seven technologies.

“I had this guy leave me a voice mail at work, so I called him at home, and he emailed me to my Blackberry, and so I texted him to his mobile phone,” says Mary. “And now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies. It’s so exhausting.”

While Mary is exhausted by technology, there are others who have recently been thrown into a panic by it – in particular those who rely on Twitter to tell them what is happening in the world. Swine flu has been happening, and apparently Twitter and other social media have been spinning out of control spreading the word. When a hoax news story relating the new flu strain to an outbreak ...

In times of financial uncertainty, gold has always been seen as a safe investment – a hedge against inflation and something that, when hard times take over, will buy you what you need. There are other precious metals – silver is one – but gold has always been the most keenly sought, its popularity dating at least as far back as the times of the Egyptian pharaohs, who got their gold by trading with the Nubians in Ethiopia.

Gold has had many uses, particularly for ornaments and jewelry – it is too soft for making weapons. However, its main use is as a medium of exchange – as “money” – with a history going back to 700 BC, when the first gold coins were minted. The idea of having money not based somehow on gold goes back only to 1970 – before then the gold standard meant that participating countries fixed currency prices in terms of a ...

Thinking About Traveling?

Warmer weather and long school vacations are ahead. This is the time when everyone’s thoughts turn to holidays, if not abroad, then definitely closer to home. However, two new threats to your travel plans are creating consternation worldwide. They are, of course, the recession and swine flu. How real are these threats and how long will they last?

Looking at the recession first, leaders in the travel industry are already seeing reduced numbers of people moving around the world.

Giovanni Bisgnani, director general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) says: “Like the rest of the economy, recovery in the air transport sector rests on a rise in consumer confidence and consumer spending. Shedding debt will be a major headwind. US households, for example, are leveraged at 130 percent of annual income. Even bringing this down by five percent erases $500 billion in consumer spending. The challenge for governments is to turn stimulus funds into spending that fuels ...

Security Plus

An interesting side effect of the economic downturn is how, in its wake, the mind of many people has turned to matters of security. A predictable result of job insecurity or of the failure of investment portfolios to deliver reasonable returns is, obviously, an increased effort to protect what assets we do have, whether they take material form such as our homes and cars, or are represented by the skills, knowledge and experience we bring to our work. In the case of physical assets, many people are looking to bring added protection to their valued possessions.

The ISC West international security conference in Las Vegas at the beginning of April 2009 showcased a whole range of security technology, hardware and information. The list of exhibitors covered hundreds of different vendors – there were 95 in the “A” section of the alphabetical list alone – in 24 categories, from “Access Control” to “Wireless Equipment”.

Winner of the Access Control ...
